My current body of work explores the concept of repetition in the creation of form. In nature there are numerous examples of forms created by repetition; shells, tree rings and layers of earth are all given shape by growth and the ongoing addition of material. These elements are recognizable as separate entities displaying their roles in the creation of the object. Each element has its own story and its own sub- context within the entire composition, giving a sense of progression and evolution through time. I am incorporating this concept in the creation of my artwork, producing abstract sculptures with subtle familiarity. |
